Give Me A Second with Yasmin

TW: Ectopic Pregnancy and infertility mentioned

I grew up surrounded by strong, independent, loving women. It’s all I’ve ever known, and it’s shaped me into the person I am today. Not only do I have an incredible mother, but I was also raised by a beautiful grandmother and two of the best sisters a girl could ask for, both of whom are now truly astonishing moms.

Lucky for me, they’re also my biggest cheerleaders, and I’m honored to have Yasmin as the very first guest on Give Me a Second.

Give Me a Second is a space where moms, at every stage of their journey, can come together and share their stories. Each path is unique, filled with wisdom, struggles, and moments of joy that deserve to be heard.

Now, let me introduce Yasmin, the “middle” kid of the three of us. I say this in quotes because my sisters are twins. We fondly call her Yasmom because she’s always had this natural, nurturing instinct. She puts others first without even thinking about it. She’s the one who taught me how to tie my shoes, how to drive, and honestly, so much more.

We also went through our pregnancy struggles together-ish. Yasmin had been trying for a while. My first pregnancy happened almost instantly, but just as quickly as it came, it went (ectopic pregnancy). I took a break from trying while Yasmin kept going, and we both shared that complicated mix of emotions whenever someone else announced their pregnancy. That quiet sting, the guilt of feeling anything but happiness, the constant questioning of what are we doing wrong? Little did we know, our time would come.

After my ectopic, Yasmin was one my rocks. She kept my mind busy (mostly by playing hours of Overcooked), and she has been my constant sounding board throughout pregnancy and now, as I navigate raising my little one. Lucky for me, she’s got fresh wisdom with her 1.5-year-old, and I fully take advantage of that.

I could go on and on about my sister, but instead, I’ll let you hear from her yourself. Grab your second cup, settle in, and enjoy.

take a few seconds

These are just a few of Yasmin’s current favs…

💖 Loving: Painting my nails because it’s the perfect balance of me-time and self-care.

🙉 Listening: Teddy Swims on repeat + dance pop to keep the energy up.

🪞 Noticing: How my toddler dives into a sensory bin and how his little mind explores, such a sweet reminder to slow down, let them take the lead, and just watch the magic happen.

🛋️ Watching: For toddler, Junabee. For me, White Lotus & Prime Target (because balance).

🖌️ Creating: Escaping into the magical woodlands with my favorite markers.

📚 Reading: Interactive books that turn storytime into play = pure magic!

🌿 Moving: Pilates to keep me sane and strong.

Motherhood isn’t meant to be done alone, and neither is Second. If today’s conversation with Yasmin resonated with you, forward this to a fellow mom who could use a moment to feel seen. The more we share, the more we remind each other that we’re never in this alone.

And because this space is just as much yours as it is mine, I’d love to hear from you, what’s a lesson in motherhood you never saw coming? Hit reply and share your story. I read every response. 🤎

Until next time, take a second for yourself. You deserve it.

Cheers,
Ari
Your fellow mom who gets it

P.S. - I dream of building a space where moms, at every stage of their journey, can come together and share their stories, just like Yasmin did. Every path is unique, filled with wisdom, struggles, and moments of joy that deserve to be heard. If you’ve ever felt like your experience could help another mom feel less alone, I’d love for you to share your story. 💌
